On April 4th 2016 Alcoyne House set out for a journey that we had been talking about a lot over the previous weeks. It should be the first holiday with our new house coordinators Clutch and Colette! So everyone was very excited because we would go together on such a long trip for the first time. After finally managing to get all our luggage into the van (that was not so easy…) we started heading south to Burntisland, a nice town by the sea and half an hour north of Edinburgh.
After having arrived in our holiday home we all went out for a lovely walk by the beach, and then to have a break at a lovely café in Burntisland’s High Street. We discovered there that we could paint pottery and we all went for it to create our very first souvenirs of the holiday.
The next day we headed for one of Burntisland’s main attractions: the big swimming pool. We all had a wonderful time there, especially Phyllis who said she felt like a mermaid and Peter who could test his swimming goggles that he had won a couple weeks before at the Carnival costume competition.
On Wednesday we went to Deep Sea World where we could gaze at creatures of the oceans.
Thursday was our last full holiday day and it marked something different to our previous sightseeing activities as a house: we went to Edinburgh to meet Peter’s dad for lunch. Already the way there was quite exciting and we all enjoyed the train ride along the coast. In Edinburgh we had a very nice lunch in a very nice restaurant.
While most of us were heading back for some rest and time to pack, Phyllis and Colette went to see Phyllis’s relatives. Phyllis was very happy to see them and had a great time with them. But it was unfortunately already time to go back and we all agreed that time went past way too quickly.
Still, we wanted to seize the day and on our way back we took a break at the Dundee Science Centre. We learned a lot there and pretty much enjoyed it. Afterwards it was time for our last lunch out together. We recalled our holiday there and went through all the nice things that we had done. We found our trip was a great success and we said that soon we should go on an even longer holiday!
